This is an OBRA sanctioned race and you can choose to race as a pro or amateur. The pro race has a 3 deep purse, with identical values and prize structures for both the Men and the Women, and since this is a brand new concept I think its fair to say that anything can happen. The Pros are called up and leave the park before any of our other categories and onto a clear course. Our podium jerseys (King and Queen of the Mountains, and King and Queen of the Trails) are produced in Italy by the Official jersey partner to the UCI - Santini SMS. Mount Bachelor supplies the high altitude grades for the mountain award, and the super-fast, downhill - rail-like Tyler's Traverse - presents the challenge for the Trail Jersey winners. Genuine contenders will need endurance, pace, their climbing legs, mental resilience, the ability to transition from the road, to the technical and challenging Single-track course. THE AMATEUR RACE

The WOMENS AMATEUR Race

62 MILES ON ROAD - 23 MILES ON SINGLE-TRACK

the MENS AMATEUR RACE

62 MILES OM ROAD - 23 MILES ON SINGLE-TRACK

Race the same course as the pro's and leave it all out there for the top amateur prize of the day. 62 Miles of Trans - Cascadian roads that loop over and around the iconic Mount Bachelor at 6,400 feet and deliver you into transition at Wanoga. Here, you transition and refuel before starting the second leg -  23 miles of rapid, fork-compressing, shock-loading, single-track in the earthy abyss of the Wanoga trail system. And look out for a podium opportunity on the descent - the King and Queen of the trails award navigate the rail-like Tyler's Traverse - a super-fast descent that may favor those with local knowledge.

Bikes and Beer - The cultural cornerstones of the Pacific Northwest lifestyle. The Battle of the Barrels is a Team Relay event that invites Breweries from the US West Coast to enter a team of two riders (up to five teams per brewery)- one of whom will ride on the road course, the other on the trails. The race starts from our event village at the Wanoga Snow park and heads onto the road course, a 62-mile loop that orbits Mount Bachelor before reentering Wanoga and handing a small timing bracelet to a teammate. The second rider escapes rapidly onto the Wanoga trail system via the tiddlywinks trailhead and completes an off road course that includes technical terrain, fast flowing downhill passes and some technical ascending. The two person team with the lowest aggregated time, wins.
